NSF Graduate Teaching Fellowships in K-12 Education
For Students in the Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology Disciplines
To ensure full consideration, applications need to be received by March 11, 2002
About the Program
The National Science Foundation Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) Program will support teaching fellowships for the University of Illinois graduate students in the sciences, mathematics, engineering, and technology (SMET) disciplines. The selected students will collaborate with campus faculty and participating K-12 teachers to integrate the use of computer-based modeling, scientific visualization, and informatics in science and mathematics education. Responsibilities of these students will include visiting classrooms to observe, offering assistance to the collaborating teachers, and co-teaching courses with these teachers.
Application Procedure
Graduate students from all SMET departments are encouraged to apply for these teaching fellowships. For the 2002-2003 academic year, between four to six fellowships will be awarded. Students may begin their fellowships starting Summer 2002. Duties to the program and stipends are equivalent to a fifty-percent graduate assistantship.
