Individual Advising

Graduate College career advisers assist Illinois graduate students with career exploration, networking, CV & resume preparation, and the job search process. We are happy to critique application materials like resumes, CVs, cover letters, and other job search materials.

However, because of the overwhelming demand for our services, we expect all students to do advance preparation before seeking a resume or CV critique. Please visit our web site for information, advice, and samples on resumes, CVs, or cover letters, as well as tips on interviewing and job offer negotiation. There's even a page to explain the difference between a CV and a resume. Or attend one or more of the many workshops offered each year, just for graduate students.

Schedule an Appointment

Graduate College career advisers are available for one-on-one counseling with advance appointments. To make an advising appointment, contact the Graduate College at 217-333-4610 or at GradCareerServices@uiuc.edu.

Walk-in Appointments

Students may also stop by the Graduate College office to see an adviser during designated walk-in hours.

Please check in with the receptionist in Room 204 of Coble Hall when arriving for a walk-in session.
