Letter to GCC Members
Dear GCC Members,
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is excited to host the Midwest Regional GCC meeting on Friday, March 13 in beautiful Urbana, Illinois. We have planned a one day program, which includes:
- a panel session with regional employers who will discuss the impacts of the economic situation on hiring
- a conversation about the needs of postdocs and how to serve them
- a presentation by Greg Lambeth from the University of Illinois Counseling Center on understanding different mentoring styles of dissertation advisers to aid us in working more effectively with students
The meeting will be held at the Levis Faculty Center on the Champaign-Urbana campus. The Graduate College at Illinois is providing underwriting for this event. There is no registration fee. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Friday, March 13. Travel costs and lodging costs will not be reimbursed, but for your convenience a block of hotel rooms is being held at the Ramada Inn for Thursday and Friday. If you will be in town for dinner on Thursday or Friday evening and would be interested in joining other GCC colleagues, please let us know. We would be happy to suggest a restaurant and arrange a meeting place.
