Symposium on Graduate Education
The Symposium on Graduate Education, first offered by the Graduate College in 2003, offers a campus wide opportunity for graduate students, faculty, and alumni to learn about and discuss the challenges and opportunities distinctive to graduate education today. Past symposia have explored topics related to:
- The diverse career trajectories of advanced degree holders
- The impact of family on the career paths of academic women and men
- Improving the graduate student experience (including discussions on time to degree and degree completion)
- The shared responsibilities of faculty and graduate students in the mentoring relationship
- The responsible conduct of research
Keynote speakers have included Bob Weisbuch, Maresi Nerad, Mary Ann Mason, Chris Golde, and Drummond Rennie.
The February 2010 symposium is entitled Entrepreneurship and Graduate Education.
