On February 10, the Graduate College sponsored its second annual Symposium on Graduate Education: Challenges, Choices, Careers. Approximately 200 graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni were provided with the opportunity to talk about the challenges and opportunities distinctive to graduate students' academic experience today. After Dr. Maresi Nerad's engaging exploration of diverse career trajectories (as discussed in her Ph.D.'s-Ten Year Later Study), faculty, staff, and alumni panelists discussed the personal and professional challenges of graduate education and professional life beyond it.
