Electronic Thesis & Dissertation (ETD) Option Now Available
Beginning October 5, all students completing a master’s thesis
or doctoral dissertation may take advantage of the Graduate College’s
electronic thesis deposit (ETD) option. ETD is a convenient alternative
to the hard copy process and can reduce paper, printing, travel costs
for students. Plus, ETD gives you a wider range of thesis release
options—including an open access option for both master’s and
doctoral students at no extra cost.

New Thesis Office Walk-In Hours
The Graduate College Thesis Office now offers walk-in hours
from 1:00 to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There
are no walk-in hours Mondays or Wednesdays.

Thesis Deposit Workshops and New Requirements for Fall 2009
Wednesdays: October 7, October 21, November 4, November 18
All workshops are 4:30 – 6:00 PM in 100 Noyes Lab
Do you plan to complete a thesis or dissertation for December 2009
graduation? Are you curious about the advantages of the new ETD
option that is now available to you? Mark Zulauf, Coordinator of the
Graduate College Thesis Office, will cover the new thesis submission
and review process, as well as look at the deadlines, supplementary
materials required for deposit, and newly revised thesis requirements.
Note that there are changes to thesis requirements in effect for
December 2009 graduation. A full list is available at:

No registration is necessary for the workshops.

Learn how to use RefWorks, a citation management software
program subscribed to by the University Library that is free to
faculty, staff, and students of the University of Illinois. This workshop
will cover the basics. We often hear graduate students say that they
wish they had implemented a citation management strategy at the
