High Performance Computer Programmer

Description:

The HDF Group is a non-profit corporation located in the South Campus Research Park. We have an immediate opening for students or other part-time programmers to do software development work related to scientific data management on Hierarchical Data Format (HDF). A research assistantship is possible for qualifying candidates.
HDF is a file format and a set of library routines and utilities for storing, accessing and visualizing scientific information. HDF is widely used in the scientific community. It is the standard format for NASA's Earth Observing System, one of the largest data management projects in existence. HDF software supports many computing platforms, including most UNIX workstations and clusters, Windows and Macintosh. The primary clientele for HDF includes programmers, engineers and scientists from a wide range of disciplines. Visit http://hdfgroup.org for more information.

Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities: Build and install HDF and related software on the high performance computers in remote sites, including different Linux/Unix platforms. Write HDF application examples and documents for users support. Assist HDF users to resolve HDF application problems.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications: Required: Knowledge and experience in C, parallel programming and Make command; experience using cluster computers. Desirable: Knowledge and experience of MPI, auto-configure, Shell and Perl scripts; knowledge of Parallel file systems; software packages installation experience in different platforms.

Compensation: 

Depending on applicant's experience and qualifications, this position may be either a research assistant or graduate hourly position. Exceptional undergraduate students may also apply. We also welcome people who are seeking part-time hourly work to apply.
