Major Components of the NRC Study
Questionnaires [Surveys]
The NRC study comprises four questionnaires:
Institutional Questionnaire (PDF)
To be completed by the Graduate College. Contains general questions about doctoral education campuswide, including such topics as health benefits, collective bargaining, and completion data for all doctoral programs.
Program Questionnaire (PDF)
To be completed jointly by the Graduate College and each doctoral program identified in the NRC taxonomy. Includes questions about program faculty, areas of research emphasis, faculty demographics, doctoral student enrollment, time-to-degree, degree completion rates, attrition, and financial support. It also includes some questions about postdocs.
Faculty Questionnaire (PDF)
To be completed by faculty who meet NRC definitions, in the programs identified in the NRC taxonomy. Includes questions about research interests, career and educational history, publication record, and recent doctoral student advisees.
Student Questionnaire (PDF)
To be completed by admitted-to-candidacy graduate students in five fields: Chemical Engineering, Economics, English, Neuroscience, and Physics.
