Ph.D. Completion Project
PhD Completion Data Submitted to CGS
The original data templates for departments have been corrected and are available electronically. There is now a netfiles folder for PhD Completion with a subfolder for each department. All departments will have access to files in the main folder and files in their department's folder. The templates are located in each department's folder. We will use this as a way to securely share additional information through the life of the project.
Please note that if you have not used netfiles before, you will need to set up a netfiles account. You will also need to use your AD logon/password to access this folder. Instructions for netfiles can be found on the CITES web site at: http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/netfiles/quickstart.html. Netfiles are fairly simple to configure, and this process should only take a few minutes. Once you have a netfiles account, you can access the PhD Completion netfiles folder at: https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/smikel/PhDCompletion.
The department's folder also contains a second large spreadsheet with one record for each student. Some of the fields in the second spreadsheet may be a bit cryptic, but it provides the basic demographic information, registration information by term, prelim date (first passed prelim) and degree conferral dates. Please note that only degrees and prelims granted by your department are in this dataset. This is the information from which the data template was derived. You will find two worksheets in the second spreadsheet. The second worksheet contains the same information as the first, but the data is sorted and formatted.
Permissions are granted to individuals, so if additional people in your department need access, please email smikel@uiuc.edu with their names and we will grant them access to the appropriate folders.
