Post-Graduation Plans for Illinois Doctorates as Reported on the Survey of Earned Doctorates in 2001-2006
Close to 100% of all students completing a PhD respond to the NSF Survey of Earned Doctorates around the time they deposit their dissertation. Looking at the data extracted from calendar year 2001-2006, we have derived the following information:
- 3502 – Total responses from Illinois (UIUC) 2001-2006
- 1423 – Number of international students responding to survey 2001-2006
- 2079 - Number of domestic students responding to survey 2001-2006
- 245 – Number of international students responding to survey 2001-2006 who indicated they planned to reside in Illinois after completing their PhD (17.2%)
- 69% of international students indicated that they planned to reside in the US after completing their PhD
