Winter Break Closings

The Graduate College, as well as most University offices, will be closed Monday, December 24 through Tuesday, January 1. If you need to visit a University office in this time period, you should call ahead to check whether or not they will be available.

Doctoral Student Deposit Fee Change for May

Doctoral students depositing dissertations in the Graduate College Thesis Office must pay a deposit fee. Effective December 17, 2007, for May 2008 graduates, this fee will increase to $90. The current $80 deposit fee remains effective for December 2007 doctoral deposits, and there is no change to the Master's Deposit Fee.

First Student Interdisciplinary Conference

The Graduate and Professional Affairs Committee of Illinois Student Senate with co-sponsorship by the Office of the Provost is hosting the First Annual Student Interdisciplinary Conference on February 4, 2008. The deadline for applications for posters, proposals and reviewers is December 21st. Students can submit applications to Mani Golparvar-Fard at mgolpar2@uiuc.edu. Extended Thesis Office Hours Continue

Extended hours in the Thesis Office continue through December 14th to accommodate thesis deposits for the December deadline. For students graduating in December, the Ph.D. deadline is December 14th. The office will be open 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:45 p.m. through this Friday.

2007 Graduates Come Celebrate!

The University of Illinois Alumni Association invites you to celebrate your graduation. Enjoy an evening of live entertainment and hors d'oeuvres on Friday, December 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center (601 South Lincoln Avenue, Urbana). Happy Holidays from the Graduate College

The staff at the Graduate College would like to wish everyone an enjoyable winter break. For many, the break is a time for holiday celebrations with family and friends. It can also be a stressful time as students juggle academic and work-related responsibilities with travel and holiday plans. There are campus resources, including counselors at the McKinley Health Center and the Counseling Center, to assist students who may be feeling overwhelmed. There are also brochures on stress management and related topics available online at: http://www.couns.uiuc.edu/ .
